MT. JULIET -- Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, April 9 at Cooks United Methodist Church, 7919 Lebanon Road, for Dr. Parker, 79, of Mt. Juliet.
A retired minister of the United Methodist Church, Dr. Parker passed away Monday, April 6, 2009. A former Chaplain serving 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Parker earned a Doctorate of Ministry from Vanderbilt University.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the church. Services will be conducted by Dr. Craig Goff, Rev. Tom Gildemiester and Rev. A. Barton Pepper officiating.
Survivors include: his wife Betty Parker; children Jim Parker and Susan (David) Parker -- all of Mt. Juliet and Liz (Mark) Clary of Oak Ridge; grandchildren Lindsey and Bryan (Melissa) Clary, Kendall, Cameron and Noah Parker.
Dr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, Vilus and Ora Parker.
