LEBANON -- Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 at the Immanuel Baptist Church for Mrs. Christian, 94, of Lebanon.

Born in Smith County to the late James Grover and Haley Lee Taylor Washer, Mrs. Christian died Sunday, June 22, 2009 at University Medical Center. She was a beautician for 25 years and had worked at both the Bland Casket Company and Lebanon Garment Factory.

Mrs. Christian was a charter member of the Immanuel Baptist Church where she had worked in the Children’s Department for over 20 years. She also was a member of the Taylorsville Home Demonstration Club.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until funeral at Immanuel Baptist Church.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Donald Owens. Interment will follow at the Hillview Cemetery in Alexandria.

Survivors include: sisters Alta Fitts Payne, Dorothy (Willie) Bass and Marie (Billy) Hatcher -- all of Mt. Juliet and Molly (Jim) Nolen of Hickman; sister in law Ruth Washer of Hickman; several nieces and nephews.

The Esther Sunday School Class at Immanuel Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Ben Hooper Christian (1997); siblings Robbie Christine Bragg, Frances Hunt, John Thomas Washer, James Woodrow Washer and William Ledford Washer; and a brother in law Lester Hunt.
