ALEXANDRIA -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 at the Avant Funeral Home for Mr. Allen, 53, of DeKalb County.
Born and raised in Lebanon, Mr. Allen died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2009 at Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a one-car traffic accident in Wilson County.
Born October 16, 1953 in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Clara Dale Hall Allen and John William Allen. He was retired from TVA after 30 years as manager of safety and surplus equipment, was a graduate of Lebanon High School and a member of First Baptist Church, Lebanon.
The family will receive friends at Avant Funeral Home Tuesday between the hours of 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral.
Services will be conducted by Brother Elmer Lee Ellis, Jr. and Brother Mike Clayborn. Burial will follow at the Hillview Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria.
Survivors include: his wife of 18 years Charissee Clayborn Allen and children John Schuylar Allen and Taylor Charissee Allen -- both of Alexandria, Josh Baker of Nashville and Jessie of Clarksdale, AZ.
Also surviving is granddaughter Cheyenne Bradshaw of Clarksdale, AZ, brothers Butch Allen and Brownie (Kay) Hall -- all of Lebanon; nieces Tara Grissim and Whitney Hall; great nieces Joei Barry and Lana Kate Grissim; mother-in-law Mildred Clayborn of Alexandria.
