Alinda Rhea Parham Moorer of Mt. Juliet died Nov. 3, 2012. She was 71 years old. She was born on May 17, 1941, in Memphis, to the late Turner and Vashti Parham. Alinda was a dedicated Christian wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a beloved friend. She could be best described from the Bible’s depiction of “the virtuous woman” in Proverbs 31.

Alinda was known for her unending energy, her unmatched work ethic, and her unshakeable faith in the Lord.  She met her husband Rex Moorer at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, and she faithfully supported his work as a preacher in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee for over 48 years. In each place they lived, Alinda was a Bible class teacher and a mentor to both young and old.

Alinda held many jobs over the years with her most recent being at Performance Food Group. She was praised at each for her dependability and her willingness to take on increasing responsibility. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was being a mother to daughter Andrea and son Bill, and she took her role very seriously. Even while working full-time outside the home, she always had a hot meal on the table and clean, welcoming home. She was very attentive to detail and it showed in appearance and in her favorite past-time—cooking for others.

She leaves behind Rex, her husband of over 48 years, her daughter Andrea Moorer Altman and husband Brad of Lebanon, her son William “Bill” Moorer and his wife Amelia of Nashville, Arkansas, and her sisters Evelyn Parham Jennings and Betty Parham Rhoads.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy: Nicholas, Nathan, Anna, and Andrew Altman, and Gabriel, Jacob, and Adelaide Moorer.

She is preceded in death by her sisters Rebecca Parham Breshears and Peggy Parham McBroom, and her brothers Bill Parham and Dale Parham.
