Funeral services for Mr. Billy R. Comer are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. Mr. Comer, 81 of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Lebanon Health & Rehab.

The family will receive friends Wednesday after 10 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo. Services will be conducted by Bro. Rodney Haskin and Bro. Dickie Johnson. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. 

Born June 6, 1931, in Wilson County, Mr. Comer was the son of the late Herman and Nannie Rushing Comer Sr. A lifelong farmer, having sold gates and panels to area farmers for many years, he also worked as a surveyor for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and later as supervisor for the Wilson County School Bus Garage.

He served as a Wilson County Commissioner from 1962-1978, and was a member of the Barton’s Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, J. Dean Mann Comer, who died Jan. 7, 2012; sister Sarah Comer and a brother, Sam David Comer.

He is survived by three sons Jimmy Comer, Carl Comer and Joe Comer; six grandchildren Jessica (Luke) Parham, Kelly Comer, Alex Comer, Sydney Comer, Houston Comer and Abigail Comer; and a brother Herman Comer Jr.

Pallbearers: Stanley Everett, Dr. Phillip Kinslow, Houston Comer, Ray David Comer, Alex Comer, Melvin Sloan and Donald Rowland.

Lebanon's Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
