A funeral mass will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Lebanon's St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church for Mr. Joe Kenneth Barnes, 79, of Lebanon. Mr. Barnes died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the University Medical Center.

The son of the late Herman G. and Alma Summers Barnes, he was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, and a retired veteran -- having served four years with the US navy and 17 years with the US Air Force. He was an electrician with the USAF, serving aboard the USS Oriskany, one of 24 Essex-Class aircraft carriers serving the Navy.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel between the hours of 4-8 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. in the Chapel. Father Michael O’Bryan will officiate the services.

Survivors include: his wife of 56 years Harriet Barnes; sons Jeff (Billie) Barnes, Tim (Janice) Barnes and daughters Joni (Randall) Hayes, Barbara (David) Minchey and Pam (Danny) Hilliard.

Also surviving are brother David (Judy) Barnes; sisters Francis Baird, Jane (Gerald) Griffin, Charlene Cooper and Ann Tomlinson; grandchildren Rachel Minchey, Dustan (Sarah) Minchey, Christie (Jason) George, Matthew Barnes, Amanda (Michael) Bundy and Josh Hilliard as well as six great grandchildren and brother-in-law Ernie Capouch. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes is preceded in death by brother Bobby Barnes and sisters Dorothy Davis and Louise Morris.

Active pallbearers will include: Randall Hayes, Danny Hilliard, David Minchey, Dustan Minchey, Josh Hilliard, Matt Barnes, Michael Bundy and David Barnes.

The family requests contributions may be made in Mr. Barnes’ memory to the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church Building Fund, 310 S. Tarver Ave., Lebanon, 37087.
