Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. George Clifton Barnett, 88, of Donelson. Born May 30, 1924 in Watertown and a member of the Merchant Marine during World War II, Mr. Barnett died March 13, 2013. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 12 Noon until service time Saturday. Mr. Barnett was a sales representative for many years with Triopane, Ugite and Amerigas Propane Companies. As a young man he worked as a cowboy in Fordtran, Texas, where he met the love of his life, his late wife, Pearl Irene Hensley. Mr. Barnett served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Silver Springs, Harsh Chapel and Lakewood Baptist Churches. He was the son of the late George Robert and Carrie Naomi Harden Barnett and was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Grice, Gladys Wright, Alota Frances King, Edward Barnett, Roy, Jimmy and Frank Harden. Jr. Survivors include: his children Morgan Blake (Lisa) Barnett of White Bluff, Robin (Daniel) Richard of Clarksville and Roger Wade (Susan) Barnett of Donelson. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister Thelma Jean Guy and her husband Harold of Dacula, GA. Arrangements are in the care of Watertown's Hunter Funeral Home. |
