WATERTOWN -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mrs. Talley, 92, of Watertown. Operator of Lillian's Beauty Shop for some 62 years, Mrs. Talley died Mar. 7, 2010 at DeKalb Community Hospital in Smithville. Born in Putnam County to the late Lee and Mary Frances Maxwell Jared, she was a member of the Watertown First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service. Services will be conducted by Rev. Don Mathis. Burial will follow at the Jones Hill Cemetery. Survivors include: children: Lee Ann (Buddy) Curtis of Smithville, Yvonne (Sam) Moore of Grayson, GA, Wilson (Kimberly) Talley of Watertown and Carroll (Nita) Talley of Savannah. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild; siblings L.P. (Eloise) Jared of Baxter and Marie Sostock of Troy, MI. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Doyle Wilson Talley and seven siblings. Hunter Funeral Home, Watertown is in charge of arrangements. |

MT. JULIET -- Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mrs. Bowen, 94, of Mt. Juliet. She passed away Monday, Mar. 8, 2010. Visitation Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of service. Services will be conducted by Brother Kenneth Bowen. Interment at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: daughters Loretta B. Lane of Gladeville and Deloise Smith (William) Woodall of Hendersonville; grandchildren Eric and Michael Henry, Joe (Niki) Lane of Gladeville, Steve (Judi) Smith of Mt. Juliet, Julie (Scott) Terry of Essex Junction, VT. Also surviving are 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Jean Montgomery Campbell of Hermitage, Christine Clinton and J. V. Walpole -- both of Lebanon; sister-in-law Pheleda Walpole of Mt. Juliet; and many special nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband Hooper Bowen; daughter Helen June Bowen; parents Horace and Sophia Price Walpole; siblings: Ruby Dickens, Edna Lockey, Horace “Buster” Walpole and Tillman “Buddy” Walpole. OLD HICKORY -- Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 9 at the Hermitage Memorial Gardens for Mrs. Moss, 80, of Mt. Juliet and formerly of Durant, Mississippi. Mrs. Moss passed away Mar. 8, 2010. Survivors include: children Faye Aldridge of Mt. Juliet, Barbara (Jerry) Brantley of Grand Bay, AL and Ralph (Darlene) Moss of Durant, Miss; grandchildren Donna Layne, David Aldridge, Andy Brantley and Milton Moss; great grandchildren Jacob Layne, Daniel Layne, Renee Aldridge and Kolby Moss. She is preceded in death by her husband Gordon Moss Jr.; parents Eva and Irving Landrum; granddaughter Ashlie Brantley; brother James Summerlin. Arrangements by Partlow Funeral Chapel, Lebanon. |

MT. JULIET -- Funeral services were conducted Monday aftenoon, March 8 at Victory Baptist Church for Mr. Croley, 71 of Mt. Juliet. A charter member of Victory Baptist Church and was a former member of Green Hill Baptist and Dickerson Road Baptist Churches, he died Mar. 5, 2010. A safety engineer with SAFECO Insurance Company 30 years, Mr. Croley was a graduate of Goodlettsville High School (Class of 1956) and Tennessee Technological University (Class of 1960) where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960 to 1965. As a Certified Safety Professional, he assisted for many years in his retirement with the State of Tennessee’s Driver Safety Program. Mr. Croley was a charter member of the Fiddlers Grove Woodcarvers Club, a Scout Master and an avid NASCAR fan. He faithfully served God for many years as a deacon and as a Sunday School teacher. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Chuck Groover, Rev. W.D. Thomason and Rev. Jerry Williams. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: wife Joyce Croley; children Grant (Cindy) Croley and Jill (Andy) Wright. Also surviving is sister Shirley Briese, sister-in-law Joni (Jeff) Coleman and grandchildren Drew and Abby Wright. Active pallbearers included: Jim Malone, Joe Hayes, Bill Karnuth, Tim Haller, Andy Eggleston and Mike Lawson. Honorary: Deacons at Victory Baptist Church and members of the Fiddlers Grove Woodcarvers Club.
