Freddie Paul White, 81 PDF Print E-mail

LEBANON -- A Celebration of Life will held 12 Noon Saturday, December 19 at the Market Street Church of Christ Lebanon for Mr. Freddie Paul White, 81, of Lebanon. A decorated veteran of the U.S. Army and an ordained Elder of the Market Street Church of Christ, Mr. White died Dec. 12, 2009.

Mr. White earned the Bronze Star Combat Infantry Badge in the Korean War, Korean Service Metal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was retired from Ford Glass Plant after 32 years. Mr. White served on the board of directors for the Wilson County Civic League and was a member of the Lebanon Planning Commission.

Visitation will be Friday at Disyal Funeral Home, 400 E. Market Street, between the hours of 12 Noon and 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. at the church until the service. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Lebanon Memorial Gardens. 

Survivors include: his wife of 54 years Catherine White and sons Dr. Gregory “Greg” Paul (Patricia) White of Chattanooga, Timothy Orlando White and Winston Fitzgerald White – both of Lebanon.

Also surviving are grandchildren Orlando Steverson, Gregory Paul White II, Olivia White, Jessica White and Freddie P. White II; great grandchildren: Jakiya Steverson, and Omaria Steverson.  Brother, Perry O’Neal (Bernice) White of Lebanon; sisters Lucille (Fred) McKinley and Jimmy Dean White-Hill -- both of Nashville; brothers-in-law Jean (Margaret) Stafford, Donald Stafford, Arnold Stafford, Robert (Gwen) Stafford, Charles Stafford and  Robert Williams, sisters-in-law, Margaret and Emma Jean Stafford.

He was preceded in death by his parents Magellan and Willie Neal White, siblings Alfred and Lonale White, Mary Helen Williams, Madora Haynie and Lenora Bethea.

WATERTOWN -- Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, December 12 at the Hunter Funeral Home for Mr. Mahaffa, 54, of Woodbury. The son of the late Herbert and Margaret Bogle Mahaffa, he died Dec. 9, 2009 at his residence.

Burial was at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Survivors include: children Peggy (Bobby) Hamlet of Watertown, Randell (Stacey) Mahaffa and Jeremy (Ashley) Mahaffa -- all of Carthage; eight grandchildren and two sisters.

MT. JULIET -- A memorial service was held at Cooks United Methodist Church Monday afternoon, December 14 for Ms. Lyon, 60, of Lebanon. Administrative assistant at the Labry School of Business at Cumberland University and former administrative assistant at the Vera Institute of Criminal Justice in New York City, she died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at University Medical Center.

The daughter of the late John G. and Sarah W. Westbrook Lyon, Ms. Lyon was a member of Cooks United Methodist Church.

Interment will take place in the Dr. O.A. Kirk Memorial Cemetery in Linden Thursday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m.
Survivors include: siblings John G. Lyon III of Nashville, Janet (J. L.) Driver and Jean E. (Bill) Markie -- both of Lebanon and Patty (Wes) Graff of Michigan along with special nieces and nephews.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Wilson County Habitat for Humanity or Cook’s United Methodist Church, 7919 Lebanon Rd. Mt. Juliet 37122.

MT. JULIET -- Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 14, at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mr. Martin, 72, of Mt. Juliet. A member of the Al Menah Shrine and the Mt. Moriah Lodge #18 in Murfreesboro, he died Dec. 9, 2009.

Mr. Martin was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and was previous owner of Four Corners Boat Dock.

Services were conducted by Rev. Bill Speight. Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army. Survivors include: wife Wilene Wiggins Martin; daughters Tanya (Terry) Crawford of Mt. Juliet and Renee (Bill) McMurray of Nashville.

Also surviving is brother Bill (Sue) Martin of Clinton, sister-in-law Gail Martin of Powell; grandchildren Ashley Bean, Justin and Paige Crawford and great-grandchild Seria Bean.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Martin and Gretchen Williamson Martin; son Hugh Doyle Martin II; daughter Elma Page and brother James Martin. A Masonic service was held Sunday evening.

MT. JULIET -- Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, December 14 at Bond Memorial Chapel for Mrs. England, 90, of Mt. Juliet. A  member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet and a member of the former Builder Sunday School Class, she died at home on Dec. 12, 2009.

The daughter of the late James Raymond and Gennette Mae Deaton Glisson, she was a member of Harvey Freeman Chapter #181, Order of the Eastern Star.

Services were conducted by Rev. David Fallin. Private interment was held at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson. Survivors include daughter Betty (Al) Frakes and granddaughter, Lisa Kyle.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her late husband, Cramer Avnet England, Sr. and her son Cramer Avnet "Buddy" England, Jr.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Juliet Animal Control Center, 115 Industrial Drive, Mt. Juliet, 37122.
