HERMITAGE -- A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday afternoon, December 15 at Hermitage UnitedMethodist Church for Mr. Simpson, 67, of Mt. Juliet. A member of Hermitage United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Simpson died Dec. 12, 2009. He was the maintenance manager for Prestige Printing in Madison for nearly 30 years. Services were conducted by Rev. Susan Gardner, Rev. Allen Black and Dr. Ed Johnson. Interment with military honors followed at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Clarksville. Survivors include: wife Christine "Chris" Jarratt Simpson; children Richard (Tami) Simpson, Michael (Kristi) Simpson and Celia (Wayne) Clair; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Family and friends served as active pallbearers. Honorary: the J.P.O.Y. Sunday School Class and the Mid-TN Happy Campers. Memorials be made to Alive Hospice. Arrangements by Bond Memorial Chapel, Mt. LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, December 15 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mr. Jones, 85, of Lebanon. The son of the late Homer and Frances Foster Jones, he died Dec. 12, 2009. Services were conducted by Brother Bob Curtis Entombment at Wilson County Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Survivors include: his wife of 66 years Sabra McNeely Jones; children: Shelia Wood of Seneca, SC; Sharon Moore of Cleveland; Sandra (Armando) Trujillo of Loxahatchee, FL; John (Gayle) Jones Jr. of Birmingham, AL; Jim (Pam) Jones of Lebanon and Selena (Bob) Cunningham of Murfreesboro. Also surviving sister-in-law Mary Emma Jones of Maryville; 12 grandchildren, seven and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother Irie Jones, son-in-law Jim Wood and grandson Eric Jones. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Saturday morning, December 12, in the Partlow Chapel for Mr. Murphy, 61, of Lebanon. Known as "Slim" to his family and friends, he died Dec. 10, 2009 at his residence. He was a painter and construction worker. Interment was in the Poplar Hill Cemetery. Survivors include: mother Dale Reynolds; wife Mary Murphy; daughters Renee Murphy Scott, Jimmie Lou Murphy Butler, Tina Brown, Jamie Michelle Murphy and Bettie Murphy Zelke. Also surviving: siblings Michael “Sam” (Pinky) Murphy and Debra Lee Brown; 12 grandchildren and a great grandchild. He is preceded in death by father James Ivory Murphy and infant sister Shirley Ann Murphy. Arrangements by Partlow Funeral Chapel. |

LEBANON -- Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16 in the Partlow Chapel for Ms. Slate, 85, of Lebanon. Owner of Southland Restaurant, Old Hickory Restaurant and a former waitress at Cherokee Steak House, she died Monday Dec. 14, 2009 in the Cedars Health Care Center. Ms. Slate was a member of Barren River Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Partlow Funeral Chapel. Services will be conducted by Dr. Larry Locke. Interment will follow at Barren River Baptist Church Cemetery in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Survivors include: son Tommy (Pam) Lothridge; grandchildren Lorie (Paul) Freitas of Florida and William (Michelle) Davis of Alabama; great grandchildren Rowan Freitas, Savannah and Sawyer Davis as well as numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by parents Chester and Nannie Mae Hudson Howell; son Michael Douglas Slate; brother James H. Howell; uncle and aunt Gilbert and Mattie Kinser. Friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ms. Slate’s memory to the College Hills Church of Christ Library, 1401 Leeville Pike, Lebanon, 37087. LEBANON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Gail Chaffin Gravens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13 at the College Hills Church of Christ with Dr. Larry Locke and Dr. Kevin Owen officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Saturday 11 - 8 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo and on Sunday from 12 Noon until service at the church. Mrs. Gravens, age 56 of Lebanon passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at the University Medical Center. Born April 28, 1953, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Bobbie Huddleston Chaffin. She graduated from Lebanon High School and attended David Lipscomb University. She was a homemaker and a member of the College Hills Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Wilson County Fair Board. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Chaffin. Survivors include: her husband of over 37 years Joe Gravens; children Candy (Jeff) Lackey; Michael (Lori) Gravens and Dusty (Megan) Gravens; grandchildren Jena & Jessica Lackey; Haleigh & Olivia Gravens; and Madden Gravens; sisters Jo Doris Sanders and Marilyn Gurgiola; sister-in-law, Jenny Chaffin -- all of Lebanon.
