MT. JULIET – Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, December 5 at the Bond Memorial Chapel for Mr. Lawson, 50, of Mt. Juliet. Known as “Joey” to his family and friends, he died Dec. 3, 2009. The son of the late Chester L. and Geneva Castleman Lawson, he was a member of Chandler Baptist Church. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday. Services will be conducted by Brother David Fallin. Interment will follow at Pulley Cemetery. Survivors include: siblings Carolyn Short and Larry Eakes, six nieces and nephews along with 13 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Judy Plemons. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Bond Memorial Chapel. |

LEBANON – Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, December 4 at the Sellars Funeral Home on the Baddour Parkway for Mrs. Cox, 83, of Columbia. Born in Jackson County to the late Walter and Ivy Fann Gulley, she passed away Dec. 1, 2009. The family will be receiving friends Friday from 11 a.m. until the chapel service. Interment follows in Dixon Springs Cemetery. Survivors include husband Thomas M. Cox; children: Jimmy (Patty) Mitchell of Murfreesboro, Chris Cox of Columbia, Pat (Danny) Wells and Penny Sorrell -- both of Lebanon, Jenny (Delmaine) Vinson of Mt. Sterling KY and step-son James (Paula) Cox of Columbia. Also surviving are siblings Johnny Gulley and Margaret Vibbart; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special friends Mary Ann Fry and Janet Lindsey. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by brothers Glen and Clay Gulley. Active pallbearers: Scott and Chad Mitchell, Nathan Vinson, Anthony and Phillip Gulley and Greg Atnip. LEBANON – Memorial services have been scheduled for 3-5 p.m. Friday, December 5 at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 7463 Hickory Ridge Road, for Mr. Embury, 88, of Mt. Juliet. Known affectionately known as "Mr. Lovely,” he passed away November 30, 2009. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years Liz Embury; daughters Mary (David) Rowan and Nancy (Ed) Walker; grandchildren Sandi (Steve) Waldron, Debbie (Jimmy) Myers, Michelle (David) Peters and Scott Walker; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Mr. Embury is preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Edison and sister, Dora Poole. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association. |

MT. JULIET – Memorial services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mr. Smith, 73, of Portland. A longtime resident of Mt. Juliet and a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School, Mr. Smith died November 29, 2009. Retired from Ford Glass after 39 years of service, he enjoyed bluegrass gospel music and playing the mandolin and harmonica with his family and friends. Visitation Wednesday from 12 Noon until the memorial. Services will be conducted by Brother Bill Smith. Survivors include: his wife of 31 years Pam Smith; children Tonya Waldron, Tracy D. Smith and Terry W. (Velma) Smith; step-children Shannon (Mark) French, Shelley (Robert) Martin and M. Shane Mosley. Also surviving are siblings Raymond T. (Lawanna) Smith of Marietta, GA, Warren (Carolyn) Smith & Mary Jo (Johnny) Harper – all of Lebanon and Evelyn (Thelbert) Powell of Mt. Juliet; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. ROME, Ga. – Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, December 2 at the Rome First United Methodist Church for Mrs. Dean, 86, formerly of Mt. Juliet. Widow of the late Rev. Kenneth Harold Dean, she died Nov. 28, 2009, in a Rome hospital. Born in Jasper, Missouri, she was a dedicated mother and pastor’s wife, Mrs. Dean retired from the Ingram Book Company in Nashville following several years of employment. She was a member of the Mt. Juliet Church of God for many years -- the church where her husband served as founding Pastor. Survivors include children Bonnie Dean (Jerry) Slagle of Phoenix, AZ; and Dr. Darrell (Linda) Dean of Rome, GA. Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Juliet Church of God, 495 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt.
