LEBANON – Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, October 23 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Preston, 92, of Lebanon. Retired from TRW / Ross-Gear and a former employee of the City of Lebanon, Mr. Preston died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at Quality Care Nursing Home. Visitation Friday from 11 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Daniel Stirnemann. Interment will follow in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: children Ann (Abed) Halim and Jack (Josie) Preston. Also surviving are grandchildren Julie Preston, Beckie (Donn) Boughton, Ray (Coreen) Preston, Tony (Kacey) Atwell, Jason D. Preston and Ramzi J. Halim; great-grandchildren Christina and Kelcey Atwell, Bridgett (Danny) Carroll and Morgan Patrick; great-great grandchildren Daniel and Amanda Carroll, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by wife Nora E. "Bill" Preston; sons Charles Raymond and Henry Wiley Preston; parents Claude Lanham and Myrtle Turney Preston; siblings Inez Grissom, Margaret Preston and Felix Preston; great-granddaughter Amy Nichole Patrick. Active pallbearers: Tony Atwell, Ramzi and Abed Halim, Ray and Jason Preston and Donn Boughton. Honorary: good friends Terry, Clayton Lane, Angel and all the nurses and techs at Quality Care Nursing Home. Partlow Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. |

MT. JULIET – George D. "Woody" Bruce, Jr, 62, of Mt. Juliet died Tuesday, October 21, 2009. A professional musician, he was the son of the late George Durwood and Edith Knight Bruce. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at Bond Memorial Chapel, N. Mt. Juliet Road. Survivors include: former wife Lani Bruce; children Chris Gann, George Bruce, III, and Brittney Watson as well as brother Warren Knight (Patricia) Bruce. Bond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. |

LEBANON — A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, October 23, at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon for Mr. Garcia, 72, of Lebanon. A veteran of the US Army and a Paso Fino horse trainer, he passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. Visitation with the family will be from 6 p.m. until service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Survivors include wife of 10 years Carol Garcia; children Lourdes Garcia, Julito Garcia, and Margarita Garcia. Also surviving are siblings: Pepito (Daisy) Garcia, Aida (Angel) Serrano and Delia (Quique) Cardona; five grandchildren; and special friends Tricia Crawford and Polly Wells. MT. JULIET — Funeral services have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, October 23 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet for Mr. Newell, 69 of Mt. Juliet. The son of the late Jasper and Hazel Newell, Sr., he passed away Oct. 19, 2009. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Sellars Funeral Home, Mt. Juliet. Services will be conducted by Terry Carver. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: wife Alice Newell; five beloved step-daughters; nieces Janie Streukens and Susan Houk; nephew Bill Davis; sister June Davis; along with several great nieces and nephews. LEBANON — Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 21 at the Adams Ave. Church of Christ for Mrs. Dies, 71 of Lebanon. Retired from Toshiba, Mrs. Dies died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at her residence. Born September 27, 1938, in Wilson County, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Annie Gay Ashe and was a member of Adams Avenue Church of Christ. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 p.m. until service time at Adams Ave. Church of Christ. Services will be conducted by Brother Bob Knox, Brother Bill Hayes and Brother Jim Byrd. Interment will be in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: husband Kirby Franklin Dies; children Charles L. Lawrence Jr. of Riddleton, Joyce Lee Lawrence, Anthony R. (Lisa) Lawrence and Michelle (David) Chambers – all of Lebanon; step-children Kirby W. Dies of Watertown, Kenneth P. Dies of Loving, NM, Kimberly C. Dies of Hartsville and Christopher (Leatha) Dies of Hermitage. Also surviving are siblings Jo Ann Mynatt, Linda Austin and John Ashe – all of Lebanon; three grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dies was preceded in death by siblings Lucille Johnson, Jerry and James Ashe. Honorary pallbearers will be the Toshiba Girls; active grandson Houston Aranjo and church friends. Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
