LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, May 26 at the Partlow Chapel for Mr. Kahl, 95, of Lebanon. A former mechanic with McDowell Motors and an avid gardner, he died Friday, May 22, 2009 at the University Medical Center. Mr. Kahl was a member of the Baptist faith and the son of the late Calvin Newton and Ida Eleanor Hanewalt Kahl. Services were conducted by Bro. Buford Bane and Dr. Robert Jantz. Interment was in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Survived by wife Bonnie L. Kahl; son Bernie (Kay) Kahl; granddaughters Bonnie (Paul) Hawk and Connie (Kris) Franklin; great granddaughter Alexis Franklin; grandchildren in Kansas Tina, Joseph and Sandy Becerra as well as numerous great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sister Alice Rolf, daughter Judy Becerra and two brothers. Active pallbearers: Danny, Eddy and Sammy Ferrell, Gary Enzfelder, Sammy Patton and Bill McDowell. Honorary: employees of Sunrise Diner & Sunset Restaurant. Arrangements by Partlow Funeral Chapel. |

LEBANON -- Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 26 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home for Mrs. James, 84, of Lebanon. Born in the Norene Community and a former longtime employee of Precision Rubber Company, Mrs. James passed away May 24, 2009 at Lebanon Health and Rehab Center. Born November 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Horace Hendrix Hight and Ella McPeak Hight. Mrs. James was a member of the Statesville United Methodist Church, Statesville Home Demonstration Club, Golden Agers and Triple L. She also volunteered at University Medical Center. Services were conducted by Brother Glenn Denton and Gary Thorne. Interment was in the Jennings Cemetery in Statesville. Survivors include: children Dimple Ann (Ronnie) Sloan, Bobby James and Ed (Susie) James -- all of Lebanon; step-children Howard Eugene (Virginia) James of Tampa, FL and Ray Dean James of Richmond, IN; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; special friends Ruby Armstrong, Phyllis Hill, and Nancy Stroud. In addition to her parents, Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm James, who died September 17, 1993; brothers Houston, Jesse, and Lewis Hight; sister Inez Taylor; half brothers Howard, Robert and Jim Hight; half sisters Lola Jones and Annalou Fisher. Grandsons served as active pallbearers; the UMC Volunteers served as honorary pallbearers. Arrangements by Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. |

LEBANON – Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, May 28 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for longtime Wilson County Commissioner Carolyn Thompson, 70, of Lebanon. The 5th District representative on the Commission since 1986, she died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness. She served on the Development / Tourism, Education, Emergency Management Agency, Steering and chaired the Law Enforcement Committee. A member of Webb’s Baptist Chapel and a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School, Mrs. Thompson worked as a title clerk with Cunningham Motors. |

LEBANON – Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at the Lebanon Church of God for Mr. Joyner, 33. He died May 15, 2009 in Chicago, Illinois. The family will receive friends Friday, May 22 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Disyal Funeral Home, 400 East Market Street and Saturday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be conducted by Bishop A.J. Valentine with burial at Mt. Lebanon Memorial Gardens. Survivors include: son Ja-Shawn Kenneth Joyner, mother Audrey Audrey Joyner, brothers Alfred Joyner Jr. and Michael (Tinesha) Joyner as well as a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and other relations. Disyal Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
