Pair faces assault charges

A man and woman are facing assault charges in an incident involving another couple earlier on Thursday near North Cumberland Street in Lebanon.
According to report filed by Lebanon Police Officer Elvis Huff, he responded to a call reporting an armed subject on North Castle Heights Avenue near North Cumberland Street around 12:30 p.m., yesterday.
Upon arriving, Huff said he made contact with a man wearing a blue jacket and black hat which matched a description given by dispatch. The man, identified as Dustin Dakota Gannon, 18, of 219 A West Forrest, Lebanon, was detained. A female, identified as Caitlin Michelle Gibson, 18, of 118 Webster Lane, Lot 10, Lebanon, who had been walking with Gannon, was also detained.
The victims in the case, Richard Smith and his wife, Ashley Agee, said the were walking to the Dollar General Store on North Cumberland Street when they were reportedly approached by Gannon and Gibson in the store’s parking lot. They said that Gibson allegedly said “There they are, pull the strap!” Smith said at that point Gannon reportedly pulled out a black handgun described as a semi-automatic and cocked it, then pointed it at him.
Agee said she yelled to a passerby to call police. At that time, Gannon and Gibson ran off toward the area of Wilson Bank & Trust on North Castle Heights Avenue. Smith chased the pair from a safe distance, Huff said in his report, while on the phone with police.
Two witnesses who have not been identified were near the area where the incident occurred and observed the reported actions of Gannon and Gibson. As a result of their statements and statements from Smith and Agee, Gannon and Gibson were arrested and transported to the Wilson County Jail.
Gannon is charged with Aggravated Assault and Gibson is charged with Solicitation of Aggravated Assault. They are to appear in court on May 4.
