LEBANON -- Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 31 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel for Mr. Oaklaey, 88, of Lebanon. The son of the late Horace and Bertha Oakley, he died March 29, 2009 at University Medical Center.
Mr. Oakley was a US Army veteran of World War II, a farmer, a creel clerk with The TWRA, an avid horseman and hunter, past director of The Wilson County Co-Op and Farm Bureau, past chairman of Wilson County Equalization Board, and a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ.
Services were by Brother Wayne Lankford Dr. George Robertson. Interment was in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: son Neal (Deborah) Oakley; grandchildren Chris (Sue) Oakley of Portland, CT, Beck Oakley of Crossville, Little Paul (Britney) Oakley of Cookeville; great-grandson Paul David Oakley.
Preceded in death by wife Dorothy Oakley; parents Horace & Bertha Oakley; siblings Ed and Ben Oakley, Howard Atwood and Bernice Nixon.
Pallbearers: Pal, Perry, Phil, Richard and Flynn Neal, Eddie Oakley. Honorary pallbearers: special caregivers Tracey Storch, Sandra Robinson, Geneva Reeves, The staff at McFarland Rehab, Tom Sanders, Dr. Hardie Sorrels, Jon Baker, Dr. Phil Kinslow, David Marlles, Tony Davis, Bo Reed, Wayne Drennon, Bob Harman and Clayton Hulse.
