A highly-successful seven-year run as head coach of the Mt. Juliet High softball program has come to an end for Kacey Pedigo.

“The decision has been made,” Mt. Juliet High principal Mel Brown said via telephone Thursday morning. “Ms. Pedigo will no longer be our softball coach. This will not impact her teaching position at Mt. Juliet High School.”

A 1993 graduate of Mt. Juliet and a former catcher for the Lady Bears, Pedigo compiled a record of 223-94 as head coach after leaving a coaching position at Nashville Overton to come home.

Three times she took her team to the TSSAA Spring Fling -- twice losing the in championship game to Soddy-Daisy and this season’s fifth-place state tourney finish. Her 2011 Mt. Juliet squad completed the season with a record of 30-10 and knocked off eventual state champion Beech High School in the Region 5AAA championship game.

She was voted the 2011 District 9AAA Coach of the Year, an honor she won on two other occasions. During her tenure at Mt. Juliet some 18 of her players have earned college scholarships.

When reached by telephone Thursday morning, Pedigo declined to go on the record regarding her situation. She presently serves as the head of Mt. Juliet High's Wellness & PE Department.
