Bikers will ride in a "Poker Run" through Wilson County for the benefit of Wilson Books from Birth, a pre-K Literacy program, on Saturday, June 27.
The event was originally set for May 9 but was rescheduled for this Saturday after it was rained out previously.
William Shipper, who organized the ride, explained that on a poker run, each rider draws a card at each stop. At the end, the rider with the best five-card poker hand wins a prize.
The ride starts from T & A Cycles, on South Maple Street in Lebanon, with bikes out between 11 a.m. and noon. Stops will include Charlie’s Shoe and Boot Repair on the Lebanon Square, A.J.’s on Highway 70, Norene General Store, Double E in Old Hickory and Legends Sports Bar in Lebanon. The ride concludes at Bull & Whistle Pub at The Mill in Lebanon with the band "Firewater" performing at 4:30 p.m., a charity auction and raffles.
The cost is $15 per rider and $15 per passenger and includes a free shirt.Proceeds from the ride will go to Books from Birth, which coordinates Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Wilson County. The Imagination Library is a free service for all children under the age of 5. Each month, participating children receive one hardback, age-appropriate book in the mail from birth to their fifth birthday. To register in the Imagination Library, call 444-5586.
