Poker Run set to benefit Wilson Books from Birth

Bikers get ready to ride in the “Poker Run” held in 2009. The annual event is set for Saturday, June 26 and will benefit Wilson Books from Birth.Submitted Bikers are set to participate in the 3rd Annual “Poker Run” through Wilson County to benefit Wilson Books from Birth on Saturday, June 26.Books from Birth is a pre-kindergarten literacy program.William Shipper, who organized the ride, explained that on a poker run, each rider draws a card at each stop. At the end, the rider with the best five-card poker hand wins a prize.The ride starts from T & A Cycles on South Maple Street in Lebanon with bikes out at 11 a.m. Stops will be made around Wilson County. The ride concludes at T & A Cycles with food, live music, a charity auction and raffles.The cost is $15 per rider and $10 per passenger.Proceeds from the ride will go to Books from Birth, which coordinates Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Wilson County. The Imagination Library is a free service for all children under the age of 5. Each month, participating children receive one high-quality, age-appropriate book in the mail from birth to their 5th birthday.
