Lebanon Police have identified the victim of a fatal accident that occurred about 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, near 128 Rocky Road.
James C. Austin, 28, of Lebanon, was killed in the accident. Police said upon arrival at the scene, they found that Austin, who was driving a 2001 Dodge pickup truck, had been ejected from the vehicle.
Police believe that he was heading south on Rocky Road when he lost control, left the roadway and struck a utility pole. He was not wearing a seat belt, they said. Austin was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Police believe that speed and alcohol may be a factor in the crash,” a news release from the police department said.
The crash remains under investigation by Office Robert Bates of the department’s Crash Reconstruction Team, or CRT.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. Austin was a student at the Miller – Motte Technical College studying to become an HVAC technician.
