DeKalb Co. 4, Friendship 3
LEBANON -- DeKalb County jumped out to a 3-0 lead, then held on for a 4-3 victory over Friendship Christian Wednesday evening.
Jackson Vance went the distance for the Commanders and was tagged with the loss, allowing just two earned runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked two.
First baseman Colton Gaines drilled a tow-run double to the wall in the fourth inning. Milam Copeland had two hits as the FCS slipped to 1-5 on the season.
Hendersonville 4, Wilson Central 3
GLADEVILLE -- Hendersonville scored four times in the top of the first and went on to hold off Wilson Central 4-3 Wednesday in the District 9-AAA opener for both teams.
Kyle Schmitt and Tony Pfefferle each went 2-for-3 for the Wildcats while Jake Lefeler plated a pair of runs with two sacrifice flies.
Kyle Hubbuch started and took the loss for Wilson Central, now 1-4 overall, 0-1 in 9-AAA.
Lebanon 5, Beech 0
SHACKLE ISLAND -- Jackson Arnold threw a four-hit shutout to lift Lebanon to a 5-0 win at District 9-AAA rival Beech Tuesday night. A junior, Arnold struck out eight and walked two as the Blue Devils improved to 3-4 on the season.
LHS struck for two in the top of the second and tacked on three more in the sixth against the Bucs -- who committed five errors.
Caleb Young led the offense with a pair of hits and an RBI while Arnold helped his own cause with a RBI double.
Nick Sanders, Eddie McDaniels, Bryce Lester and Jake Millay had Lebanon’s other hits.
Beech 5, Mt. Juliet 2
MT. JULIET -- Beech bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to Lebanon with a 5-2 win over Mt. Juliet High Wednesday night. The Bears dropped to 5-2 overall / 0-1 in District 9-AAA with the loss.
