PREP BASEBALL -- Lebanon falls at Gallatin 7-2

ON TUESDAY-- Wilson Central improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in District 9AAA with a 5-4 extra-innings win over Portland. Ninth grader A.J. Franklin started for the Wildcats and weathered a rocky top of the first as the Panthers struck for four runs. He left after five innings, scattering six hits and striking out eight. He was not involved in the decision.



Wilson Central countered with three in the bottom of the first, then added another run in the sixth to knot the score at 4-all.


Catcher Dylan Prendergast drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.


Prendergast finished with two hits, including a triple and three runs batted in. Jacob Williams added three hits while Tyler Fish was 1-for-2 with two runs scored.


Dylan Lannom picked up the pitching decision with three innings of one-hit, scoreless relief.


BEECH 4, LEBANON 0 --SHACKLE ISLAND -- Mason Dunn threw a complete game two-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lift Beech to 4-0 win over Lebanon Tuesday night in the 9AAA opener for both teams.


Senior lefty Antonio Logue was the tough-luck loser for the Blue Devils, working five innings of three-hit ball. Eddie McDaniels and Dent Burger had the only two hits for LHS.


The Blue Devils will travel to Gallatin High for a 7 p.m. District 9AAA game Wednesday at the Gallatin Municipal Park.

FCS 13, GORDONSVILLE 1 --LEBANON -- Junior Austin Godwin threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout Tuesday as Friendship Christian defeated District 8A rival Gordonsville 13-1.


Godwin struck out seven and hit a batter, improving to 3-0 on the season. He helped his own cause with three RBI doubles. Tanner Martin had five RBI with a pair of hits while Drew Erie added a single and a double.


FCS, now 9-1 overall, stands 2-0 in the district headed into an 8A game Thursday at home vs. Red Boiling Springs. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.


MT. JULIET 3, GALLATIN 2 --MT. JULIET -- Cody Carr scored from third on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to lift Mt. Juliet to a 3-2 victory over scrappy Gallatin Tuesday night.


The Bears got a two-run single from Zach Tompkins in the sixth to tie the score at 2-all. Carr and Tompkins had back-to-back two-out singles in the seventh, then moved up on two wild pitches -- the second of which ended the game.


Reliver Conner Sugg worked the top of the seventh to get the win in relief. Campbell Scholl pitched two and two-third innings of scoreless relief, coming in after starter Josh Smith. All told, Mt. Juliet pitching help Gallatin to six hits.


Mt. Juliet improved to 6-1 overall headed into a 7 p.m. home game tonight vs. Beech High.
