PREP BASEBALL -- LHS blasts Cannon Co.

Zane Potter throws one-hitter
SMYRNA -- Junior lefty Zane Potter threw a six-inning one-hitter, leading Lebanon High to a 19-2 victory over Cannon County Thursday afternoon in pool play of the Smyrna Grand Slam Challenge.

In his first start of the season, Potter struck out 10 and walked three as the Blue Devils improved to 1-2 on the season. LHS (1-2) will be back in action today (Friday) in a 4:30 p.m. game vs. Johnson City Science Hill at Riverdale.

Lebanon exploded for seven runs in the top of the fifth and eight more runs in the top of the sixth.

Infielder Jackson Arnold was 4-for-4 and Taylor Bryan went 3-for-5 with two doubles as LHS hitters rapped out 16 hits off a trio of Lion pitchers.

Bryce Lester and Nick Sanders each added a pair of hits while Peyton McCullough and Eddie McDaniels each drove in two runs.

On Saturday -- LHS is scheduled to play Shelbyville Central High in a 1:30 p.m. game at Smyrna; followed by a 6:30 p.m. contest with host Smyrna.
