Wildcats, Bulldogs tie at 1-1
SMYRNA -- Wilson Central's soccer team opened the 2014 season Thursday with a 1-1 tie at Smyrna.

Down 1-0 late in the first half, the Wildcats evened the score with nine minutes left in the match as junior Austin Pardue scored off an assist from Justin Dillard.

Senior keeper Joshua Smith finished with seven saves.

Wilson Central will return to action at LaVergne High Tuesday, March 18 in a 2 p.m. contest.

LHS & White Co. battle to 3-3 draw
LEBANON -- Down 2-0 at halftime, Lebanon's soccer team staged a strong second half and battled visiting White County High to a 3-3 tie, Tuesday, March 11.

Blue Devil captain Andrew Grimes cut the margin in half with a lob over the keeper's head at the 15 minute mark. Ten minutes later Chuka Aruh picked up a free ball inside the box and finished to tie the score at 2-2.

The Warriors again took the lead on the counter attack, only to see Aruh net his second goal with five minutes left in regulation.

Sophomore Cole Morse had six saves in goal for LHS. The Blue Devils finished with 18 shots on goal.

"After a very slow first half, we made some adjustments and came out ready to play in the second half," said Lebanon’s second-year head coach Kempess Villafana.

Back on Feb. 28, Lebanon opened with a 2-0 win over Macon County High.

Now 1-0-1 on the season, the Blue Devils will open District 9-AAA play Tuesday, March 18 at Hendersonville.
