GORDONSVILLE -- Funeral services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 15 at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes for Mr. Bennett, 73, of Old Hickory.
Born in Smith County and a 1954 graduate of Gordonsville High School, Mr. Bennett died Monday morning, October 13, 2008 at Summit Medical Center, Hermitage.
He was the son of the late Mai Edith Jones and Alonzo Jackson Bennett and served two years in the United States Army. Mr. Bennett worked for 40 years as a salesman with Cordage Paper Company of Nashville -- retiring May 31, 2001. He was an an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and golfing. Mr. Bennett attended Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet.
The family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time.
Services will be conducted by Brother Chuck Groover and Brother Joey Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife of 50 years Marie Maynard Bennett and sons Scott Bennett and Todd Bennett-- all of Old Hickory. Also surviving is brother Jerry (Ardelia) Bennett, nephew Stacy (Carla) Bennett and great nieces Allie Jayne and Anna Mai Bennett -- all of Lebanon.
Bass Funeral Homes, Gordonsville Chapel, is in charge of arrangments.
