Dickson County is scheduled to play Middle Tennessee Christian at 5 p.m. followed by a 7:30 p.m. game vs. Lebanon High.

* Rain is KILLING the local softball and baseball schedules. Wednesday's Watertown at FCS softball game was postponed as was Gallatin at Lebanon (baseball) and Mt. Juliet at Beech (baseball).

* I'm working on a story about LHS graduate Garrett Fanchier who's leading the Belmont pitching staff in ERA. Look for that report later next week.

* Here's what was so impressive about Lebanon's 2-1 baseball win over Beech Tuesday night. Three sophs and two freshmen were in the starting lineup for the Blue Devils. One of the sophs, rightfielder Jack McKeon, gunned down a Beech runner in the top of the first who was trying to go from first to third on a hit. McKeon threw a LASER on the fly to 3rd baseman Dent Burger who applied the tag. The kid was dead by four feet. BIG TIME ARM.

* After a rough start in the Gulf Shores Nike Classic, Friendship Christian baseball is back in form. FCS hammered Class AAA Portland 13-3 last Friday night, then pounded Red Boiling Springs 24-0 in the rain Tuesday. I know, RBS is pretty weak, but 24 runs in just four at bats is pretty impressive.

Austin Godwin drove in five runs with two doubles; Drew Erie hit two home runs and Caleb Snider threw a five-inning no-hitter. The lefty struck out 12 and for the record, 15 is all you can strike out in a 5-inning game. WELL DONE CALEB.
