SOFTBALL: LHS 5, WCHS 1
Hannah Simmons and Sara Aubuchon had two hits apiece for Lebanon while Megan Brown and Beth Swartwout each came up with RBI singles.
Wilson Central's run came on an RBI single by Lauren Stavinoga. Morgan Powell started for Central, going 3 1/3 innings, giving up five runs (1 earned) on five hits before giving way to Hannah Bodenhorn. Bodenhorn pitched the final 3 2/3 innings, and gave up one hit while striking out 6 batters.
LHS improved to 19-11 overall and 7-1 in District 9AAA headed into a Monday, April 29 game at district power Beech High.
WCHS slipped to 18-14 / 4-4. The Lady Wildcats will finish up their regular season at Station Camp before the 9AAA tournament which starts Friday, May 3.
FCS 2, GORDONSVILLE 1 --SOUTH CARTHAGE -- Friendship Christian School improved to 16-11, 7-1 in District 8A play, following Thursday's 2-1 victory over Gordonsville at Crump Paris Park.
The Lady Commanders pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning as Tana Whited singled in Kristian Watkins and Courtney Petty scored on an error.
Petty picked up the pitching decison for FCS, scattering five hits, striking out six and issuing just one walk.
The Lady Commanders will be back in action today and Saturday as they play in the Coffee County Invitational. FCS plays Greenbrier at 5:30 p.m. Friday and again at 8:30 p.m. Pool play continues Saturday.
MJ 14, Gallatin 4 --MT. JULIET -- Senior Lauren Woodard celebrated Senior Night in a big way Thursday, leading Mt. Juliet to a 14-4 victory over District 9AAA rival Gallatin.
Woodard ripped a home run and two singles while throwing a four-hitter. Kristen Jackson and Ashton Stowe added homers for the Lady Bears, who improved to 24-12 overall and 6-4 in District 9AAA with the victory.
Mt. Juliet is scheduled to host Riverdale tonight (Friday) at 5 p.m.
Ezell-Harding 18, MJCA 2 -- MT. JULIET -- MJ Christian fell to 6-11 oveall following Thursday's 18-2 loss to Ezell-Harding. The Lady Eagles pounded out 14 hits and took advantage of four walks.
Ninth grader Liz Russ had a single for MJCA's only hit.
The Lady Saints will open play in the District 1-A, Division II tournament Monday at Donelson Christian Academy.
