Some have been deprived of Golen Rule
To the Editor:As the tea baggers, with an exaggerated sense of self-importance, are obliging corporate insurers to divert millions of patients’ funding from the Health Care Reform Law to blacken their bottom line, the insurers (having placed tens of millions in likely places) are saying they will not let fatally ill children have health coverage without a fight. Now fixed Republican state lawmakers are attempting to overturn the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that passed in Congress without a single Republican vote to cover these children and others with pre-existing conditions. And this comes after a Single Payer Plan and Public Option were done away with, along with 200 other changes they have already imposed. Nevertheless, 76 percent of the Nation “professes” to be Christian and that would include the majority of the tea baggers and other modified Republicans. Ironically though, these “professionals” bring into play the separation of church and state when it comes to ministering to the sick saying that’s for charity or the church. But, to the contrary, they’re making an all out effort, even condescending to petty bargaining in having the Ten Commandments including “Thy Shall Not Kill” set in secular courthouses, which in many states the Death Penalty is pronounced and preemptive wars honored where tens of thousands, free from guilt, are killed. And whose they want on the curriculum I don’t know, but a copied (pillaged without proper credit) version of the Bible placed in public schools to sway the plurality and tolerance of diverse young minds into a catch-22. Yet already in a downward trend the U.S. ranks 18th out of 30 industrial nations in secondary education, 25th out of 30 in math and 24th in science? Thus it is apparent that those enacting this selfish blight have been deprived of the “Golden Rule.” So now I would ask, is everyone going to let those with such want, move us to become so poor?Robert Knowles Lebanon
