Dear Ken: What were some of composer Hoagy Carmichael’s most famous songs? Did he star in a TV western back in the 1960s? The native son of Bloomington, Ind., wrote so many marvelous compositions, but the standouts would include “Stardust,” “Georgia on My Mind,” “Skylark,” “Heart and Soul,” “In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening” and “The Nearness of You.” He appeared in about 10 movies, including “Topper,” “To Have and Have Not,” “The Best Years of Our Lives” and “Young Man With a Horn,” And he co-starred as Jonesy from 1959 to 1960 in the TV western “Laramie.” The Grammy and Oscar-winning composer died of a heart attack at 82 in 1981. He also wrote a tune with one of the longest titles of all time, “I’m a Cranky Old Yank in a Clanky Old Tank on the Streets of Yokohama with My Honolulu Mama Doing Those Beat-o, Beat-o, Flat on My Seat-o Hirohito Blues.” 

Dear Ken: Didn’t Shelley Fabares, who starred in the TV series “Coach” and “The Donna Reed Show,” makes some movies with Elvis? Isn’t she married to another TV star?The actress has been married to Mike Farrell (he took over the role of B.J. Hunnicutt when Wayne Rogers left “M*A*S*H) since 1984. She starred opposite Elvis Presley in “Girl Happy,” “Spinout” and “Clambake” in the mid-1960s. She also had a No. 1 pop hit in 1962 with the song “Johnny Angel.”

Dear Ken: How many episodes were there of the British sitcom “Are You Being Served”?The show ran for 69 episodes from 1972 until 1985. In 2004, it placed 20th in “Britain’s Best Sitcom.” Most of the cast reunited for a sequel series in the early 1990s. Titled “Grace & Favour” but known as “Are You Being Served?
