Awards presented at Chamber banquet

Individuals and businesses were honored Thursday night at the 2013 Annual Lebanon/Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting & Awards Banquet, held in the Commons Area of the new Lebanon High School.

The theme for the event was “Past, Present, Future,” and included the presentation of the directory of chamber members, published by MainStreet Media, parent company of The Wilson Post.

Rick Smith accepted the gavel as the Chamber’s new chairman from Chris Crowell who served in that capacity in 2012. 

The winners of the awards, announced last night are as follows.
Winner of the award for Best New Professional or Commercial Building, completed this year, was First Freedom Bank.

Winner of the Best Structure Converted to a Commercial Use or Significant Structural Addition or Restoration of a Commercial or Professional Building, completed this year was The White Room.

Winner of the Best Improvement of Land Usage to Enhance the Area’s Aesthetic or Quality of Life, completed this year, was Cumberland University Nokes-Lasater Stadium.

Winner of the Best Restoration or Preservation of a Historical Site was the Greg Dugdale Building at 321 West Main Street.

Special awards presented Thursday night included the following:

• Retailer of the Year, Helene Cash of Crystal Couture
• Business Person of the Year, Rick Stewart, Signs Now
• Volunteer of the Year, Beulah Garrett
• Lifetime Member, Phil Ponder
• Corporate Friend of Education, Old Hickory Credit Union
• Friend of Education, the Leftwich Family
• Distinguished Alumni, Tommy Thompson
• Tapped by Tourism, Stella Lochmiller
• Ambassador of the Year, John Grant
