4 FOR FOOTBALL, 1 FOR SOCCER

Five Wilson County prep athletes made their college decisions official Wednesday, Feb. 4 on National Signing Day.

Traditional NCAA Division II power Carson-Newman of Jefferson City swooped up the leading rushers at Wilson Central High and Mt. Juliet -- inking Cody Clawson and Collin Earnhardt to scholarships.

Clawson is expected to move to receiver while Earnhardt is slated for duty in the secondary.

WCHS linebacker Nathan Rottero signed with UT-Martin. Rottero, one of the top tacklers in Middle Tennessee, played in the Toyota East - West All-Star Game.

Lebanon’s Cumberland University landed Friendship Christian School offensive lineman Trey Walker while Wilson Central High soccer standout Tashia Romkee signed with Savannah College of Arts & Design, one of the top team in the NAIA Sun Conference.
