Watertown High assistant football coach Keith Goolsby has been hired as the new head coach at Macon County High in Lafayette.

Goolsby has been at Watertown since 2005, working under head coach Gavin Webster as offensive coordinator.

Goolsby is a graduate of Smith County High, where he played for Coach Gary Rankin, and Middle Tennessee State University. Following college he taught for seven years in Smith County, four of those years heading the junior high program. He worked under former MCHS coach Pat Dyer 2002--2004 and helped lead Macon County to a record of 12-2 in 2003.

Goolsby was hired in late January and held his first team meeting Wednesday, Feb. 4.

He becomes the sixth head coach at Macon County since the 1990 season and replaces Daniel Cook, head coach for the past four seasons.

The MCHS Tigers went 1-9 during the 2008 season.
