MURFREESBORO -- Senior Icelyn Elie’s three-point play with 3:38 left in the game pushed Lebanon ahead to stay in Monday night’s 53-46 victory over Blackman in the District 7AAA consolation game at Siegel High. The Devilettes led 13-10 after the first quarter and took a commanding 26-16 advantage into intermission. Blackman clawed back into the game and actually took a 37-36 lead with 5:20 remaining in the contest. Marissa Jennings had 14 points to lead Lebanon while Elie had 11. Bryanna Payton finished with nine points, K.D. Williams and Shay Coggins had seven each while guard McKenzie Lamberson finished with five points. Coach Ashley Johnson’s Devilettes will take a record of 13-14 into Friday’s 7 p.m. Region 5AAA opener at Shelbyville Central. Friday’s winner advances to the regional semifinals next week at Blackman. The Eaglettes lost in the District 8AAA finals Monday 43-35 to Lawrence County. In Saturday’s semifinal game, Cookeville’s Lady Cavs opened the third period with an 11-0 run and smacked Lebanon 59-40. Elie finished the game with 17, while Payton had 10. |
