'DOGS RETURN 37 LETTERWINNERS

LEBANON -- Cumberland University begins spring football practice next week coming off last season’s Mid-South West Division conference championship and returning 37 letterwinners for head coach Dewayne Alexander.

Cumberland returns 17 letterwinners on defense and 20 on offense from last season’s club that ended the year with three victories in the last four games, including a thrilling 29-26 triumph over 11
th-ranked Lambuth in the season finale.

The Bulldog offense ranked in the Top 30 nationally in seven categories, including 18th in passing efficiency, 20th in passing yards per game and total yards per game, 22nd in scoring offense, 23rd in kickoff return yards and punt return yards per game, and 28th in first down per game.The defense was 35

th in the country in sacks, 43rd in pass defense efficiency, 46th in opponent third down conversions and 47th in total defense per game.

Cumberland will practice on the following dates from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each day on the CU campus: March 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27 and 30, and April 1, 3, 6 and 8.

The squad will also have workouts on two Saturdays, March 21 and 28, at 9:30 a.m. The Bulldogs will play their spring game on Thursday, April 9, at a time to be determined.

All practices and the spring game are open to the public.
