SATURDAY FOLLOWING SCRIMMAGE

Cumberland University will hold a team scrimmage this Saturday morning followed by a cookout and meet-and-greet for Bulldog fans at Lindsey Donnell Stadium. The scrimmage starts at 9:30 a.m. and the cookout will follow around 11:30 a.m.

All fans are encouraged to attend to meet-and-greet the 110 Cumberland players. Schedule cards will be available along with hamburgers and hot dogs.

The Bulldogs continue two-a-day workouts, weather permitting, Tuesday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.

CU went through its first scrimmage during Monday’s afternoon practice, running 96 plays with 40 runs and 56 passes. The offense put together 14 plays of 10-plus yards and four 20-plus yard plays, including a 60-yard pass and run from Curt Bureau to Da’Juan Manning and a 30-yard run by Kelsea Fordham.

Bureau ended the workout 11-for-14 overall with one interception, including 10 consecutive completions, and freshman Christian Burnett was 10-for-14 passing with five straight completions.

The Bulldog defense posted five sacks and two interceptions, one apiece by Cordero Rowland and Chris Simpson.
