SUPERSPEEDWAY HOSTS BLOOD DRIVE

GLADEVILLE -- Ever want to take your ride on a few laps on the 1.33 mile concrete "D" oval of the Nashville Superspeedway? Donate blood and you just might be able to live out that dream.

The NASCAR Foundation’s fourth annual blood drive presented by Nationwide Insurance is set Friday, Sept. 11 at the Nashville Superspeedway between the hours of 12 Noon and 6 p.m. The blood drive will be held at the Infield Media Center.

The first 150 presenting participants will be able to take their own vehicle around the track behind the NSS pace car. They will also receive a 3M gift bag and may register to win a Nashville Superspeedway 2010 race package as well as O’Charley’s gift cards.

Each year the blood drive mobilizes some of NASCAR’s biggest entities - drivers, sponsors, teams and tracks - in an effort to help meet the on-going need for more than 39,000 blood donations every day.

The national effort, spearheaded by The NASCAR Foundation, aims to help maintain safe blood supply levels and lessen the blood shortages that often occur during the summer months and around holidays.

In 2008, 29 tracks participated in the national drive. The NASCAR Foundation’s overall drive collected 4,261 pints of blood, potentially saving more than 12,000 lives.
