MT. JULIET -- Taking advantage of several early-game miscues Mt. Juliet piled up a 52-13 win over Lebanon Friday night in a District 9AAA contest. The win vaults Coach Roger Perry's squad to 6-0 overall / 3-0 in league play headed into a Thursday night TV game at home next week vs. Wilson Central. Lebanon slid to 4-3 / 2-2 in the district with the loss and will entertain Beech Friday, Oct. 9. MJ quarterback Reed Gurchiek rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another, going 7-of-8 passing for 111 yards and shining in the two-minute drill just before intermission. He ran eight times for 61 yards. Lebanon's Jordan Stafford ran 25 times for 92 yards, QB Patrick Maynard completed 7-of-17 passes for 90 yards with TD passes going to Phillip Vance and Kelan Rhodes. The Blue Devils turned the ball over twice on fumbles, twice on interceptions, had a punt blocked and failed to handle a couple of MJ kickoffs cleanly.
