BURKESVILLE, KY -- Sophomore Dustin Thomas tied for fourth with a second-round 70 and sophomore Paul Vaughan tied for 10th, leading the Cumberland men’s golf team this week at the Lindsey Wilson Fall Invitational at Dale Hollow Lake State Park.

Thomas posted the second lowest round of the tournament Wednesday with his two-under 70. The Cookeville native was four-under on the par-fives in the two rounds, tied for second in the field, and finished with a tournament-best one-under score on the par-threes. He also had one eagle.

Vaughan shot an opening-round 73 and stood tied for second heading into Wednesday’s final round. The Springfield native was two-under on the par-fives in his first round and posted four birdies altogether. He was also tied for third in the field in the opening round in par-four scoring at plus-two.

Sophomore Guy Nardo tied for 24
th overall in the field after rounds of 81 and 76, while junior Austin Whitmere tied for 31st with scores of 78 and 81. Freshman Evan Phillips finished 40th overall with rounds of 82 and 79.

Cumberland placed fifth in the eight-team with an overall score of 613 (310-303), just six shots from third place. The University of the Cumberlands won the event with a team score of 597.

The Bulldogs play again October 19-20 at the Martin Methodist Fall Invitational at the Lawrenceburg Country Club in Lawrenceburg,
