Game day events at CU PDF Print E-mail

LEBANON -- The Cumberland University Athletic Department will be sponsoring community service oriented events at six remaining home basketball games, including a canned food drive and programs for Habitat for Humanity, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Sherry’s Run.

Immanuel Baptist Church will sponsor a canned food drive Thursday, January 21, when the Bulldogs take on Union University. All fans will receive $2 off the price of admission if they bring at least one canned food items, which will be donated to Joseph’s Storehouse in Lebanon.

Former Tennessee Titan Mike Jones will speak at FCA Day, Saturday, January 23 when CU hosts Martin Methodist. Fans will receive free admission if they wear an FCA shirt and bring a canned food item to the game, which will also be donated to Joseph’s Storehouse.

Habitat for Humanity is sponsoring the Thursday, February 4 contest against Lyon College.

Wilson Bank & Trust and Sherry’s Run are sponsoring the Saturday, February 13 contest against rival Trevecca. Half of the gate receipts from the contest will be donated to Sherry’s Run. The organization will honor 2009 team captains and introduce 2010 team chairs at halftime of the women’s game and honor the 2009 Volunteer of the Year during halftime of the men’s contest.

Cumberland’s Thursday, February 18 game against Bethel University will serve as Alumni Night as well as Coming Home, the annual event to crown a Homecoming King. The Bulldog women’s basketball program will also be taking part in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Pink Zone initiative to strikeout Breast Cancer.

During the final home contest of the year, Saturday, February 27 versus Mid-Continent, will be Admissions Day as well as Senior Day, with CU honoring three senior basketball players.
