Two former Cumberland baseball standouts who went on to become successful prep coaches will be honored during the annual “Dine With The ‘Dawgs” 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Benton Jennings Center on the CU campus.

Wilson Central coach Anthony Ford and Mt. Juliet skipper Mark Purvis will be recognized for their achievements at the high school level. Both played at Cumberland for veteran coach Woody Hunt -- Ford pitched and Purvis was a second baseman. The event is sponsored by Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial and includes dinner sponsored by Outback Steakhouse. As always, a silent auction of baseball memorabilia as well as other donated items will be available.

All proceeds from the event go directly to the Cumberland baseball program. The Bulldogs have appeared in 10 NAIA World Series in program history, winning the national championship in 2004. Cost is $35 per person. A portion of the proceeds will go toward ongoing renovations at Ernest L. Stockton Field. Construction is presently underway on new fencing designed to enclose the facility and the relocation of both the leftfield and rightfield bullpens.
