|4 CU wrestlers honored|

LEBANON -- Four Cumberland wrestlers earned All-Mid-South Conference honors and three others garnered Academic All-MSC accolades, as announced by the conference office at the conclusion of the Mid-South Conference duals over the weekend.
Juniors Mikey Davis, James Casadaban and BJ Stewart and senior Eric Metzler earned All-Conference honors, while sophomore Andy Shoultz, junior Joshua Chappa and senior Trey Myers garnered Academic All-Conference accolades.
Davis and Casadaban both went 4-0 during Saturday’s inaugural Mid-South Conference Championships, while Stewart was 3-0 and Metzler posted a 2-1 mark.
Davis, top-ranked nationally at 141 pounds, defeated Tim Mitchem of the Univ. of the Cumberlands, 4-1, and won 8-6 over Campbellsville’s ninth-ranked Jacob Murton.
Casadaban, ranked eighth in the country at 157 pounds, posted a 9-6 victory over Dustin Center from the Univ. of the Cumberlands and won 7-6 against Campbellsville’s Conor Young. Casadaban also defeated Lindsey Wilson’s James Anthony by Fall at 1:13.
Stewart posted an 11-4 triumph against Carlton Thompson from the Univ. of the Cumberlands in CU’s first match Saturday, a much-debated score that was at-first 12-4 and changed after deliberation among officials. Cumberland tied UC, 18-18, after the deduction of the point. Stewart also defeated Campbellsville’s Jeremiah Fennell, 3-2.
Metzler won his opening match, 10-3, over Fred Byars from the Univ. of the Cumberlands before dropping a 4-1 decision to Campbellsville’s Spencer Adams. Metzler came back with an 18-5 victory by Technical Fall over Lindsey Wilson’s Bill Semones.
Chappa carries a 3.45 grade-point-average in Biology, while Myers has a perfect 4.0 and is currently working on his master’s in Arts in Education. Shoultz owns a 3.69 GPA in Nursing.
Students must carry a 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore, junior or senior in academic standing to earn Academic All-Mid-South Conference honors.
