LEBANON -– Brandon Springer’s list of accomplishments at Cumberland University continues to grow more than two weeks after the senior played his final game in a Bulldog uniform as he was named Second Team All-America, the NAIA announced Tuesday.

Springer, a Nashville native, started all 59 games of his Cumberland career and became the fourth CU player under head coach Lonnie Thompson to join the 1,000-point club, totaling 1,051 points and 483 rebounds.

The TranSouth Conference Player of the Year averaged 22.5 points per contest his senior season and led the nation in scoring for more than half the season and earned National Player of the Week honors on Jan. 26. He finished the year ranked fifth in the NAIA in scoring and 10th in rebounding, with 9.6 boards per contest.

The Hunters Lane High School product earned Honorable Mention All-America honors a year ago after producing 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per outing.

Springer is one of three TranSouth players on the Second Team, joining Zack Frey of Freed-Hardeman University and Greg Truvillion of Union University.
