NASHVILLE -- Cumberland took control of the TranSouth Conference baseball race with a three game sweep at Trevecca's Jackson Field over the weekend. CU, ranked No. 3 in the NAIA, took Friday's opener 15-3, then swept the Trojans on Saturday by scores of 7-3 and 14-0. The Bulldogs of Coach Woody Hunt improved to 32-8 overall / 7-2 in the TranSouth. Trevecca fell to 24-14 / 4-5 in league play. Cumberland outscored TNU, 36-6, and belted eight home runs in the three games, including four in Saturday's twinbill. Cumberland will host Lindsey-Wilson Sunday in a 2:30 p.m. game at Ernest L. Stockton Field, then will play Bryan College Monday in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Veterans Field in the Baird Park Complex. Any fans bringing a canned food item to Monday's game will be admitted free of charge. All food collected will go to the Potter's House. |
