SATURDAY -- Native Wilson Countian Levi Brown, the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and Troy's single-season passing yardage record-holder, was selected in the seventh round of the NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. He joins a wide-open quarterback competition with the Bills. Brown threw for 4,254 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2009, leading Troy to the GMAC Bowl and becoming the first player in Troy and Sun Belt Conference history to throw for more than 4,000 yards in a season. Brown's 6,284 yards are the third-most in school history. He joins a team in Buffalo that has a new coach in former Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey and a group of quarterbacks with no clear starter -- Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm and Ryan Fitzpatrick. A graduate of Mt. Juliet High, Brown is the son of Joe and Kay Brown. |
