LEBANON -- Longtime AAU coach Cleve Harris has been named as the head coach of the Friendship Christian School boys basketball team.

Harris comes to FCS from Christ Presbyterian Academy in Brentwood where he served as assistant varsity basketball coach and head coach of middle school basketball. He also worked as athletics facility manager.

Born in Somerville, Harris attended East High School in Memphis, where he earned All-District, All-Region, and All-State honors. He was voted Player of the Year by the Tennessee Junior College Athletic Association while at Motlow State Community College, where he was also named All-NJCAA. At Union University in Jackson, Harris set a school record for most assists and was named Defensive Player of the Year two consecutive years.

His coaching resume includes stops at Motlow State as an assistant and head coaching positions at Moore County and East Hickman Middle Schools.

In addition to coaching school teams, Harris has coached travel teams for 18 years. He is the president and founder of the Tennessee Lady Tigers AAU organization.

"Cleve Harris will be a great addition to the basketball program at Friendship Christian School. He is a very knowledgeable basketball coach, and gifted in developing young players. We are very excited that Cleve will be a part of our athletic program,” said FCS athletic director John McNeal.

"Cleve Harris has been impacting young lives in the middle Tennessee area for the last 20 years," said CPA head football coach and dean of middle school students David Pack.

Harris replaces Matt Bradshaw, who resigned in March after seven seasons at FCS -- going 147-64 during that time with five 20-win seasons, including the 2010 Region 4A championship.
