Watertown was rocked Thursday after news that 17-year old Tyler Russell was killed in a two-car motor vehicle accident Wednesday evening.
Russell, a defensive lineman on the Watertown football team and a rising senior, was a passenger in a car with two teammates and another youth when the vehicle was struck by another car around 10 p.m. near 11045 Sparta Pike, outside the Watertown city limits.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the mishap.
Funeral services for Russell will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Gladeville Baptist Church, 9000 Stewarts Ferry Pike.
The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bond Memorial Chapel in Mt. Juliet and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
Services will be conducted by Rev. Bruce Grubbs. Interment with will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include: mother Yevonne “Bonn” (James) Lewis, father Todd Russell and brother Wade Russell. Also surviving are: grandparents Claude and Patricia Baker, Billy and Becky Russell and Earl Lewis; great-grandmother Ophelia Stubblefield; aunts and uncles Michael and Renee Ray, Tiva Bradshaw and Dane Baker; cousin Kristin Meisel and several other cousins.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Juanita Langley, Willard and Margaret Russell and Hackett Stubblefield.
Active and honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Watertown High School football team.
