CU adds UT-M transfer PDF Print E-mail

LEBANON -– Cumberland University women’s basketball coach Jeremy Lewis announced the signing of former UT Martin basketball player Yalonda Davis to scholarship papers for the 2010-11 academic year.

Davis is the second former Skyhawk player to transfer to CU, joining Jessica Pace as well as Walters State signee Ambrea Owens in the Class of 2010.

Davis played in seven games with one start last season at UT Martin, averaging 8.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. The Rienzi, Miss., native posted 9.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game as a freshman in 2008-09, including 10.9 points per outing in Ohio Valley Conference play.

Davis scored 3,283 career points at Biggersville High School, a 1A school in northeast Mississippi just south of Corinth. She averaged 23.3 points, 4.3 steals and 3.8 assists per game for her career at BHS for coach Cassie Farris.

Davis garnered All-State accolades as well as earning All-District three times and Alcorn County Player of the Year. She was also a McDonald’s All-American nominee and earned letters in track and softball as well.
