LEBANON -- Cumberland’s James "JJ" McClain was named the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after compiling 241 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns in a victory at Union College.

The Nashville posted a seven-yard rushing TD in the first quarter and then caught a 78-yard pass for a score just before halftime.

The touchdown catch was a thing of beauty, with McClain hauling in a long spiral from Reed Gurchiek on the left sideline at the Union 35 and was the longest pass play of the season for the Bulldogs.

The former Hunters Lane standout rushed 11 times for 75 yards and caught two passes for 83 yards. McClain also returned three kickoffs for 83 yards.

He now has 1,337 all-purpose yards this season, which leads the Mid-South Conference and ranks sixth nationally despite missing almost the entire game at West Virginia Tech.

Cumberland plays at Belhaven University in Jackson, MS this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. before ending the regular season at home November 12 against the University of the Cumberlands.
