Cumberland University’s Casie Cowan was one of 10 players voted to the 2011 TranSouth Women’s Preseason All-Conference Team, as announced this week by the league office. Cowan was a Second Team All-TranSouth selection and earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team last season after averaging a team-best 12.4 points along with 2.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals while starting all 30 contests at point guard for the Bulldogs. The Seymour, Tenn., native scored in double figures in 21 contests, including 13 of 17 outings versus TranSouth competition, and led the squad in scoring 10 times. She ranked third in the TranSouth in 3-point field goal percentage (.360), fifth in 3-pointers made (59), 11th in scoring, 12th in steals and 17th in assists and hit three or more 3-pointers in a game nine times, with a season-high five trifectas at Martin Methodist. Union University’s Lavanda Ross was voted the Preseason Player of the Year.
