SPARTA -- A.J. Wilkerson drilled three 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to lift host White County to a narrow 49-47 victory over Lebanon Friday night in the finals of the Sonic Shootout at Roy Sewell Gym.

The Warriors (7-8) led 26-18 at half, only to see LHS (5-8) cut the margin to 32-30 at the end of the third.

Ninth grader KeShawn Abston knocked down three 3-pointers and led the Blue Devils with 17 points. Post man Cameron High was limited to just nine points by a sagging White County defense. Cody Yarbrough had eight points and Julian Crutchfield seven.

ON THURSDAY -- Lebanon High survived a scary ending and came away with a 60-59 win over Cumberland County in the semifinals of the Sonic Shootout Thursday afternoon at White County High.

A pair of free throws by ninth grader KeShawn Abston gave LHS a four-point lead with 10 seconds left, but the Jets rushed the ball down the floor and hit the last of their eleven 3-point baskets -- cutting the margin to one.

Lebanon survived a last-ditch 3-point attempt by Cumberland County (9-7) after much confusion over the final seconds of regulation.

LHS returns to Sparta Friday for the 6 p.m. finals against either East Limestone, AL or host White County.

Cameron High paced the Blue Devils with 22 points while Abston and Cody Yarbrough each scored nine.

LHS struggled at the free throw line, hitting on only 15-of-32 attempts (48 percent).

The victory marked the first time so far this season the Blue Devils had pieced together wins in back-to-back games.
