MURFREESBORO -- Friendship Christian completed the third leg on its championship triple crown Saturday with a 38-34 victory over Perry County in the finals of the TSSAA's BlueCross State Championships at MTSU's Murphy Center.

The first state title for the boys basketball program comes on the heels of a Class AA football crown and a Class A volleyball championship for the school earlier this academic year.

The Commanders (28-3) got key free throws down the stretch from Dalton Patterson, Austin Defevers and Hunter Anderson to hold off Perry County (30-5).

"I don't know what this feeling is," said FCS second year head coach Cleve Harris, "All I know -- I'm so proud of those guys. They really earned it."

Choosing a patient style of offense for the championship game, the Commanders managed to frustrate Perry County enough to force their opponents into a terrible night from behind the arc. All told, Perry County went 3-of-28 on 3-point attempts.

Team leader Cannon Rhodes struggled, going just 2-of-16 on three's and finishing with 11 points.

Patterson led Friendship with nine points, followed by Mark Sandoval and Allen Heaston with eight each. Anderson added seven points.

ALL TOURNAMENT -- Mark Sandoval was voted tournament MVP. Allen Heaston and Dalton Patterson were voted to the all-tournament team.
